#Mezcal Scutia nació con el objetivo de realzar las artesanías mexicanas y exponerlas al mundo. Como parte de nuestra filosofía, estamos orgullosos de México y todo lo que nos ofrece (incluidos sus destilados). Por tal razón, la idea de llevar el nombre de un personaje de nuestra historia, hace que se distinga aún más dentro del mercado. Pero ¿quién fue Juan Escutia? ¿Qué hizo por México?
El 13 de septiembre de 1847, durante el ataque de las tropas estadounidenses en la Batalla del Castillo de Chapultepec, seis cadetes defendieron con su vida los símbolos y valores patrios. Según la historia, Escutia se lanzó al vacío envuelto en la bandera nacional, para evitar que cayera en manos de los estadounidenses. A partir de ese día, Juan Escutia, Agustín Melgar, Fernando Montes de Oca, Francisco Márquez, Juan de la Barrera y Vicente Suárez, pasaron a la historia como los Niños Héroes. El presidente Benito Juárez fue el primero en honrarlos, al decretar el 13 de septiembre día de luto nacional, en su memoria.
Por esta razón, nombramos Scutia a nuestro #mezcal. Pues es un destilado con carácter, pensado para aquellos héroes que luchan diariamente por ser mejores, por alcanzar sus metas y al mismo tiempo, disfrutan compartir los placeres de la vida con los más cercanos.

Who was Scutia?
Mezcal Scutia was born 5 years ago. Since then, one of the Brand goals has been to expose one of the most ancestral Mexican traditions to the world. As part of our values, we are very proud of Mexico and all the handycrafts that give us. For this reason, we thought that using the name of an Historical character will make stronger our brand identity and generates more impact in the consumer. But, who really was Juan Escutia and what did he do for Mexico?
On September 13 th , 1847, during the attack by the US troops at the Battle of Chapultepec Castle, six members of the national army defended the patriotic symbols and values with their lives. According to the History, Escutia was very brave because instead of give the Mexican Flag to the enemies and accept the defeat, he took the flag, wrap himself in it, and jump into the void.
Since that moment, Juan Escutia, Agustín Melgar, Fernando Montes de Oca, Francisco Márquez,
Juan de la Barrera and Vicente Suárez, were known as the “Niños Héroes”, giving them honor and national recognition by the first time by Benito Juárez.
For this reason, we select the name “Scutia” for the Mezcal. As Juan Escutia, our spirit has a lot of character, boldness and daring. It was designed for those heroes who try to be better everyday. The day-to-day heroes who have challenging goals and make all they can to achieve them. Those people who doesn’t have fear to do new things, who adapts to the new circumstances, and at the same time, enjoy having and sharing the pleasures of life.
